It was a looong winter, not so cold or wet that it kept Gordon out of the garden, weeding, and more recently pruning. But all that hard winter’s work paid off as you can see in the photos below:

This past week’s warm weather brought the magnolia into bloom! The cherry blossoms at our front gate will not be far behind. They typically bloom in early April, but I think they may bloom in March this year. There’s a rhythm to our blooms–after the magnolias and cherry trees come the rhododendrons, azaleas, viburnum, and early roses. Not yet, but soon….

Daffodils have been smiling for several weeks now, all over our property.

Last year we planted hundreds of tulips. They will be back in bloom in a few weeks– if next week’s snow doesn’t decimate them!

Camelias are always colorful.

We should have a great crop of blueberries late in the spring and early summer. I’m still using up the bags of frozen blueberries stored in my freezer.

Early blossoms on the plum tree. Last year we had enough plums that I could make my plum jam! Yum.

And in between the rainstorms, we managed to get our house painted—a slightly darker grey but basically the same as before—just fresh and new!
Now that we are marching into Spring, expect more frequent blogs as nature unfolds at The Green PLANeT Gardens!
