May 24, 2026 Beautious Blossoms in our Spring Garden

There are two videos in today’s blog– one for April where you can see what things looked like in early spring, and one for late May, when the garden is bursting with late spring color. In addition to seeing peonies, iris, roses, late flowering rhododendrons and early hydrangeas, you will notice how quiet and peaceful it is at The Green PLANeT Gardens. Except for the occasional vehicle along Petes Mountain Road, the hum of a neighboring power tool and the comforting ring of the train from across the Willamette River, the quietude allows you to hear nature as well as see beauty all around you. And it keeps changing every few days! Enjoy!

Latin Lover is but one of the 205 named iris we have in our collection. You’ll see signs near some of the iris in the May video–that’s because we are selling our iris to locals–and for me to be sure I have correctly identified the iris. We have more than 3000 in our garden!

Here are a few other iris in our collection.

I could never grow peonies in Oakland, but here they grow spectacularly! I am trying to consolidate that 20 or so varieties in the cutting bed, but I’ve a few scattered throughout the garden. They are not only beautiful but they smell so fresh in my arrangements.

The roses are in full bloom. This one was among the first!

Foxglove are filling in the cutting bed. In the May video, you’ll see much more in bloom.
